Bullet

A colossal bullet,
Sharp, menacing
Swoops and dive
Fired from overhead.

How can one deny a thing so heavy?

In an instant I’m on my toes,
Though they’re weary
Moving as it moves,
Ducking, diving, trying to place a blow.

I go for the gut
But the strike is misdirected.

After it counters, I’m left clutching my side,
Spears and shields dancing
Around the little tiles at my feet.
